About Rotary Scholarships

As part of Rotary International's mission and vision, the Rotary Club of New Braunfels offers academic scholarships to graduating high school seniors seeking a four-year degree, two-year degree or certification, or a CTE education or certification.
 
Applicant Eligibility Requirements
 
Rotary Club of New Braunfels Scholarship applicants must meet the following criteria in order to qualify for consideration:
 
  • Must be a graduating senior for current calendar year.
  • Must reside in the New Braunfels, Texas zip code area.
  • Must have a minimum overall 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; most current transcript(s) required.
  • Must have applied to and intends to enroll in a university, community college, trade, or vocational school. 
  • A child or grandchild of any current Rotarian of a Rotary Club chartered in New Braunfels, Texas, is not eligible.
  • One-to-two-page personal statement describing why you believe your academic achievements, community service, leadership potential, extracurricular activities, and financial need qualify you to receive the scholarship.
  • A minimum of one teacher or counselor recommendation is required.
  • Award is based on financial need, community service, leadership potential, academic achievement, and extracurricular activities.

Scholarship Awardee Requirements
 
If you are notified that you have been selected to receive aa Rotary Club of New Braunfels Scholarship, in order to receive it you must:
 
  • Be enrolled in an accredited program at a 4-year, 2-year, or trade school;
  • be a degree-seeking or certificate seeking student;
  • meet the scholarship eligibility requirements, and;
  • follow the procedure for renewal (if applicable).
 
While enrolled in a 4-year, 2-year, or trade school, Rotary Club of New Braunfels Scholarship awardees must meet the following requirements in order to maintain their scholarship:
 
  • Attend all classes enrolled at all times barring verifiable hardships.
  • Continue to be enrolled in the full-time student course hours required by the program you are attending.
  • Contact the Rotary Club of New Braunfels each semester with proof of enrollment in their university, community college, trade, or vocational school program. This should be done within 30 days of the beginning of each semester.
  • If the Student (for any reason) needs to take a semester off, unenroll, transfer schools causing a break from their program, or interrupts their enrollment, the Student must advise us as soon as possible. Students who do not have an approved leave of absence from the scholarship program, or who have not contacted us within 30 days of the start of any semester will have their remaining scholarship commitment reallocated back the available funds for other students.
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress, academic eligibility, and passing GPA of 2.0 or greater.
  • If the Student is placed on any academic probation, he/she must advise us immediately.
 
All scholarship recipients must meet the requirements set forth in the Scholarship Agreement and agree to and sign the Agreement to indicate their acceptance.

We encourage every student to look for community service opportunities throughout their academic career and afterwards, and we invite you to attend any of our Rotary meetings or reach out to us to participate in community service activities to pay it forward.
